Kess & Associates, Inc., A Professional Land Survey firm, now headed for our twelfth year, founded in October of 1997 by Kirk D. Eschliman, P.L.S. to serve the surrounding communities of Waterloo, Cedar Falls, Evansdale, Hudson, Elk Run Heights, Raymond, and others, in the East-Central Region of Iowa and the neighboring states of Illinois, Wisconsin and Minnesota.
This surveying and consulting firm is equipped with the latest state of the art field and office survey equipment, design software and communications technology to assure integrity and quality results you can trust. This technology, combined with a depth of experience usually found only in much larger firms, results in our clients receiving all the benefits of using a large firm, with the personal attention to quality.
Providing a wide range of surveying and consulting services: Property/Boundary Surveys, Farm and Farmstead Surveys, Topographic and Contour Surveys, GPS Satellite Surveys, Subdivision Development, Site Development, ALTA/ACSM Land Title Surveys, Condominium Declarations and Conversions, Residential, Commercial, Industrial, FEMA Elevation Certificates and Letters of Map Amendment, Construction Staking, Route Surveys, Right of Way Acquisition, Accident Investigations and Expert Witness Testimony for the Court Room. These services are provided to individuals, small businesses, corporations, major industries, municipalities, and other government agencies. KESS & Associates, Inc., with our years of Professional Experience in Professional Land Surveying and Civil Engineering Consultation, the Company’s extensive experience in these fields has involved the development, design, and implementations of a variety of projects for both the public (municipal) and private sectors. Related work, includes the assembly and generation of C.A.D.D. mapping for the Cities of Raymond, and Boone, Iowa, collaborating with Aerial Services, Inc. of Cedar Falls, and the Illinois Department of Mine Reclamation, providing G.P.S. and conventional ground control for aerial mapping of Federal Mine Reclamation Projects, and additionally providing personnel for installation monuments and G.P.S. field survey of several countywide G.P.S. Network systems within the State of Iowa.
Since the inception of Kess & Associates, Inc., the company, has been involved in all facets of numerous projects in the States of Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, and Wisconsin. Noting that Kess & Associates, Inc. also holds Title for Best ALTA/ACSM Land Title Survey at the Society of Land Surveyors of Iowa, Annual Society Plat Competition for 1999, 2006, 2007 and 2008, in addition to the Title for Best Plat of Survey for 2006, Title for Best Section Corner Certificate for 2007, and most recently for the Title of Best Section Breakdown as Misc. Plat of Survey for 2008.
Now expanding our service territory as we celebrate our twelfth year in business, and returning to our roots, we open our second office in Boone, Iowa, in affiliation with Eschliman Engineering, Inc.
Dale R. Eschliman, P.E. & L.S., as founder of Eschliman Engineering, which became Eschliman Engineering, Inc. in 1964, a Civil Engineering firm providing Surveying and Consulting Services to small municipalities. Dale R. Eschliman, P.E. & L.S., originally licensed in Iowa in 1952, while Assistant City Engineer for the City of Sioux City, Iowa, then moving to Boone, Iowa, as the City Engineer, and an employee of the City. After leaving City employment in early 1964, Eschliman Engineering returned to provide Engineering & management Services to the City of Boone, and other small communities in the area.
Professional Services offered are the supervision of design, construction maintenance and inspection personnel (with personnel certified by the Iowa Department of Transportation for P.C. Concrete Plant and Field Inspectors, Asphalt Cement Concrete Plant and Field Inspectors and, Traffic Safety in Construction Zones); project development, implementation and review; public relations, and intergovernmental coordination. A majority of this work was in North Central Iowa counties of Boone, Story, Greene, Carroll, Dallas, Webster and Hamilton. These projects besides the work referenced above, included development of solid waste management facilities, grain storage facilities, ground control for aerial mapping, various projects for the Army Corp of Engineers – Rock Island Office, design build projects for the U.S.D.A. Facility located at Ames, Iowa, and communication facilities for numerous corporations. This work also included surveying and consulting projects for the Fort Dodge Des Moines & Southern Railroad, Rock Island Railroad and the Chicago & Northwestern Railroad (now the Union Pacific Railroad) across Iowa. Other municipal projects included a H.U.D. Water and Waste Water System expansion for the City of Boone, Iowa; several major F.A.U.S. pavement projects for the Cities of Madrid and Boone, Iowa; and assisted in completion of re-monumentation and upgrading the record system for the Public Land Survey System in Boone County, Iowa, prior to the state law mandating the filing of current notes.
